7 lbs is excellent for a long rail like that! Not much more than my LW DD upper with MOE furniture.

I went with optics ready in my ArmaLite upper (railed gas block) but like MJ have found the fixed front sight base on my DD upper not to be a problem with my 3-9x40 scope or RDS.

I recently purchased the SP6920. No compliants at all.

I removed the carry handle and the hand guard and replaced it with a drop in TROY battle rail,AIMPOINT red dot and Magpul rear popup Gen 2

I chose the 20 over the 40 due to the fact the 40 is a one piece upper and I believe the 6920 gives me more options in the way I do furniture
