Default Changing buffer weight

Can you change the buffer weight to suit your needs by using lead shot??

I wouldnt use just loose shot. It will have an impact jack hammer effect on your reciever and can lead to stress cracks. Any weight added into a buffer needs to be solidly in place so it cant move as the buffer cycles
