if you took a ar10 upper ok and took the 308 brass and cut it down so you could fit a 40cal in it i think it will work cause just below the sholder the case it is .450 this should leave enoughf meet to make a good crimp and military surplus 308 brass has thicker side walls so plenty of case strength. have a custom barrel made to lets say 450-500$. now all im thinking is the type of powder that would be used this should git a 40 165 hp to the 2200 to 2300 fps fairly eazy and still have minimal recoial shaving off weight from the boalt and what not. any takers i think it would work and there is plenty of surplus stuff to to make the cartrages it would be a good project.

That would be a short version of the .411 Hawk. I have and it is based on the 06 case. After you expand the case to straight walled you will have .009 of shoulder to head space on. You really have to be carefull when loading this round, and yours would be the same.
