On a local website I saw a guy sell a Bushmaster Carbon 15 with a red dot scope, and 4-30rd mags, for $750.
With the latest hysteria going on, how much "could" he have got?
I'm new to the Carbon 15; what parts of it are carbon?

Buds gun shop online has an auction last I looked it was 2000 I think? Either way the guy could of gotten more. His loss!!

Bushmaster's Carbon 15 retailed for about that much prior to the madness- came with a Bushnell Red Dot. Could have easily doubled that price- MAYBE tripled.

Most of the lower and much of the upper is carbon fiber laminate. The BCG, bolt, fire control group, barrel are metal. I have one- not a bad rifle, extremely light, takedown is a little different.

And of course, if anyone wants to confiscate one, you look them straight in the eye, and say "I would be glad to cooperate, but last week I was using my regular carbon remover solvent to clean it, and the whole thing just dissolved right there in my hands...."

Yes, it was a "Carbon." It's the 1st rifle pic in the attachment.

Are these "just" as good as a standard made AR/M-4?

Yeah my FIL has one and he loves the hell out of it. Before this madness he probably put 1500 rounds through it and its still runs like a champ. I like shooting it but I just the the stock is kinda ugly but that's just me.

Carbon 15s were bringing $599 here at one point and they have skyrocketed just like everything else, I have seen a couple delaminate where the top rail attached to the carbon but thats easily replaceable with a alum one if its ever needed down the road . Id say with the way the current market is $750 is not out of line

cabelas in Hanover Park IL has one in stock with scope for $799.

They dont hold up well against any real hard use. I put them in the same category as a ruger mini14. They are just fine if all your doing is taking out to shoot paper or the occasional yote.

If your going to use it for any kind of competition or training courses or use it as a gun your going to take out on a atv for self defense i would look at something a bit more sturdy and better built.

They are good guns for their price point and intended usage but im still leery of polymer/carbon lowers.
