From a stripped lower u bought from LGS, they register it as "other". After u build the lower and mate with the sbr upper, bring it to metro and reregister it as pistol.

How does that work. Does metro keep a record of the receiver serial as a pistol since its registered as other? Or is the receiver itself classified as a pistol with atf? I only as because i truely dont know how that works and im just curious is all. I hope im not coming across as anything other than inquisitive.

So update on the Blackout I went back to the original flat black on the stock and grip. The bolt carrier group is in. All that is left is the hand guard and muzzle brake. Hand guard gets here Monday. I m still trying to find a deal on either a dual port surefire or aac blackout seeing it has to be pinned and if I want a suppressor that will be what I want.

You have to register "pistols".

The upper in the pic was actually a Noveske upper, but VLTOR does also make SBR uppers...just not in 300BLK.

Not to stray away from the thread topic, but here is just one example of a VLTOR SBR upper...again, not a 300BLK. You can go to VLTOR's website to see all the other offerings.

It's finally all here. The muzzle brake just arrived and all that remains is to go to the gunsmith tomorrow and get a gas system, a barrel nut tightened, and pin the brake. Then gas it up and go to the range.

No.... In order to build your own AR pistol, you MUST use a virgin lower, that has not been built into any configuration previously. As long as you buy a virgin lower, you can build your AR pistol and there is no registration after the build that you are talking about. This is why you must be 21 to buy a lower, you can make it a rifle or a pistol.
