I am looking at Barrels and Rainier and Noveske are the current favorites. Noveske has the pistol length gas system, Rainier the carbine length. What is the difference?

Just ordered the Barrel which is a 14.5 with CAR gas system and a 1:7 twist.

Someone may want to look this up. I believe that if receiver is registered as a rifle you can not put a barrel shorter than 16 inches no matter what butt stick or buffer tube you put on there. So if your converting a rifle, you can not just put a pistol tube on it and call it good. I know your building from a lower on up, but i just wanted this info out there for others reading this thread.

If u purchase a stripped lower, the LGS register it as "other" on the form 4473. How can a stripped lower registered as rifle?

You have to buy a pistol lower. It must be registered as a pistol and have a "P" serial number.

And the OP already has a lower with a stock on it. So he can't use that lower ever with a SBR upper.

I never heard of that "P" serial number thingy. Both my AR pistols built from regular stripped lowers and i got them registered at Metro. Then i got 2 blue cards (pistol registrations) for both AR pistols.

Im not sure what you meant here. Were you referring to metro reclassifying a receiver?
