Default Brand new to tactical guns

Im 18 and my dad has a few rifles I have shot many times (.22,30 30) I am looking at a tactical gun to buy, for fun/protection. A buddy of mine has the .223 and I shot it. WOW so much fun with minimal recoil. I have been looking at this one. I would put a scope on it for sure along with other additions.
46149 - Bushmaster Optics Ready (O.R.C.) Semi Automatic Carbine .223 Remington/5.56x45mm NATO 16" M4 Barrel 30 Rounds Black M4 Collapsible Buttstock Black Anodized Finish
Good rifle to start with? I wanna stick with that size gun, Im not a fan of recoil lol
Anyways im sure you all hate me now for asking a newb ?
Thanks anyways

Bushmaster makes good guns. I own one myself very reliable, and quite accurate. I would also look into Rock River, and Yankee Hill, all great AR 15 style rifles. Another good, low recoil tacti-COOL gun is going to be the ps90, a personal favorite of mine. It often comes with a built in scope as well as your iron sights.

As a side note, what exactly makes a rifle tacti-COOL?

Start with? How about to stay with? It took me about 40 years to get around to buying one. Excellent choice. Being of the Vietnam War generation, I had to have a carry handle with iron sights on mine, for nostalgia sake.

By-the-way, we are not haters here. Welcome aboard.

Bushmaster XM-15

usual variations of this:

My first choice would be Daniel Defense, BCM and Colt. You will pay a few hundred more in some cases but the quality, materials used, testing and lifetime guarantees on the Dan. Def. and BCM are well worth it in my opinion. I also had a Delton kit AR for $500 that was not too bad.

I did a quick search on pricing for the Bushmaster 90391 and found a range from $800 on up. Be careful and research before purchasing your AR. Often times, like what has already been touched on, you can get a higher quality AR for a few $'s more.

Check out BCM. Their value is unbelievable. You'll get way more value for the extra $50-$100 you'll spend.

Id also go 5.56 over .223. You'll have many more options when deciding on ammo. A 1:7 twist barrel w/ add to that as well.

I will sugest considering a mid length gas system over a carbine too.
