Go to Ebay and get a Matec MBUS...used by the military, still in wrap and my last one was $35. New.

Red dots might have improved battery life since I last looked into one. I never bought a red dot because they have a 4 hour battery life. A red dot is something I would forget to turn off. Moreover, when hunting I would burn up a battery every trip.

Aimpoints have over 10,000 hours of battery life, some have 30,000. But Aimpoints aren't $60 either. My TRS 25 is supposed to have a few days worth of battery life, but I turn it off when I clear the gun, and change the batteries in electronic sights once a year when I change fire alarm batteries. You don't want a battery to corrode inside your sight.
