Schmidt and Bender is what most snipers use.
I think US optics come in a close second.
If all else fails you can always go Nightforce or Premier....
You want the best right?

What type of distance, and loada re you wanting to use?
The Marine Squad Designated Marksmen use Leupolds.
But as Agent Tikki already said, if you want the BEST scope, US optics, Schmidt and Bender, and Nightforce are all very nice, high end scopes.

IMHO, the best scope for a 6940 is the Trijicon ACOG .
The 6940 is a combat rifle, not a long range sniping weapon. A 4X ACOG is all the power you'll ever need.
And they're less than half the price of a Zeiss/Hensoldt or a Schmidt & Binder.
The Marines like the ACOG a lot.

What's the best car?
Your question is too general please try and be a more specific than long range.
example:
what budget are you giving yourself?
What kind of long distance experience do you have?
what kind of gun you run (tell us what kind of barrel you have)?
what kind of ammo u use, that kind of targets you shoot?
and last but not least how far away you want to go?
Some of those scopes I mentioned earlier are well over $3000, but all can be considered some of the best glass money can buy.

Thanks for your help but you're right I should have been more specific on the budget.
My budget is $400 and like I said, its my first ar-15 and I like to get the most out of my guns and I have not yet have a preference in long range ammo.
Now, what scope and ammo do you suggest?
Thanks

As for Ammo since you have a 1 in 7 rifling some of the best match grade ammo for the money is :
PPU 69 grain Match.
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/3-0312402
Others are even a bit more "matchier" but for the money it is hard to beat.
Hornady and others are out there and even more accurate, but for most shooters the PPU 69 gr is more accurate than they are.
