AmmoEngine: .223 Remington/5.56x45mm, Instock For Sale Premium & Discount Ammunition, Ammo Deals

I wouldn't shoot Tula or Russian in any of my AR's but the PMC @ .30 per round is clean, reloadable, brass cased and reliable.

BVAC is quality factory Ramanufactured ammo.

take up reloading. its easy cheap and fun. i typically come back every range trip with a couple hundred extra empties than what i started with when the tacticool guys are out there. my typical 5.56 load is around .19$ a round but i like to use decent easy metering powder. i can get a little cheaper on the powder with a little more hassle. 9.50$ per 50 3.80$ per 20 19$ per 100 190$ per 1000 could prolly shave a bit on the really big bulk if i tried. the real savings is re-using your brass. easy to get brass from range pickups.

+1 on the PMC Bronze. It's good, consistent, and clean for budget ammo. Not a fan of the steel cased stuff, but if you go that way, I choose the Brown Bear over Wolf/Tula/Herter's.

Tula 62gr HP

I have to agree with mjkeat. Not a thing wrong with saving money using steelcase. Lots of good choices but 55 or 62gr SC is what I shoot most of the time.

I have run thousands of rounds of the steel cased stuff without a problem, one carbine class I was in last summer it chewed up over 800 rounds in about 6 hrs.. not one hiccup

I have some PMC 55.gr. and some Wolf 55gr. that I use as my range ammo. I have some '09 Lake City XM193 and some TulAmmo in 62 gr. HP and 55gr. FMJ for when the Zombies come.

I have a 580 series Mini, and it just shoots the stuff all day long. I don't know how the TulAmmo & Wolf would run in an AR.

I was thinking about picking up some 55gr Wolf for drills/plinking. I've read good reviews about it but have not first hand experience with it.

I have read many many good things about Wolf and Tula from guys who use it exclusively in 2-3 day carbine classes and are in the AR industry as a way of feeding their families. If its good enough for them its good enough for me. They have however mentioned increasingly light loads over the years.
