Barrel twist rate question

I am building yet another AR and am looking for some expertise on twist rate. It will be a .223. I typically reload 55 gr bullets but may want to shoot something heavier occasionally. I am putting a 24" bbl on it. Looking for some range and accuracy for varmint/hunting. Any advice is much appreciated. I am partial to RRA, and they offer 1:12 or 1:8...

I've always found the 1:9 twist to be good for 50 to 60 grain bullets, and the 1:8 to really favor a 68 or 69 grain bullet, but that is just my findings and many others will have different input. I have a 24 bull barrel on my AR, 1:8 twist, and the only thing I shoot out of it is 69 grain Matchkings.

How heavy? 1:8 might be good for what you're wanting.

What bullet weight can I shoot in my <1/9, 1/8> rifle?

take a look at this thread, it should answer most of your questions.
