AR15 vs .223 bolt action

If I have an AR chambered in .223 and a .223 bolt action, what would I rather use for coyote hunting at ranges of 200-400 yards ? Is there a big FPS differential? And is it more accurate than the AR?

I use both,a RRA 20" varminter and a Savage 12FLVSS 26".
While the RRA is a proven 1/2-3/4" shooter, the Savage will out shoot it any day of the week with the same type bullets.
There's a little difference in velocity, but a good bolt action will out shoot an AR almost everytime.
For shooting coyotes, they both will do the job at the ranges you listed,so it's all about what you want.

Ok cool thanks for the reply.. If the ranges are pushed out farther than that at about 500-550 is the bolt action better?

It will depend on the barrel twist rate, and the bullet that is used. Varmint bullets are usually 60gr or less, and the wind can really push them around at that kind of range.
Heavier Match grade bullets have no problem shooting that far,but I don't use them for hunting, they're designed to punch holes in targets not animals.

Thats kinda pushing it for hunting its so very hard to hit a head shot on a yota at 500+yds. You better cuttin it a 400 max and movin up to a 30-06 or 308win. If you want a longer range.

The bolt action. No question about it. Not even a contest. The bolt action all the way.
