Thanks.

I've had the gun a while now. It runs great. It's actually my favorite out of all of them. Very reliable.

When I originally wanted one, all that Obama gun madness was going on. Prices had jumped to $3k. So, I bought a Steyr AUG instead. But, when prices returned to normal, I still wanted the SCAR. So, I sold the AUG and bought the SCAR. I am very happy with my decision. Out of all the rifles I previously owned, the SCAR is my favorite

I've been eyeballing a scar 17 for some time now. I've got plenty of AR's already in the usual selection of calibers. I held one at the last gunshow and just couldn't pull the trigger at $2k+. Talked with JonM about his a couple times. Nothing but positive reports. Its going to happen, its just a matter of when....

Well, I don't shoot rifles that much. So, I've just stuck with 5.56. Ammo is expensive enough... I don't wanna pay the added cost for more expensive ammo to feed a SCAR 17. But, if that caliber is your thing, you won't regret it. Great platform.

Only thing I had to do was change the muzzle brake out for a flash hider. The gun is WAY too loud with the brake. AFter 150 rounds on my 1st trip... Outside, under an aluminum roof at the range, I had a headache. The sound bouncing back gave me a headache, and I had even put plugs under my ear muffs.

I had a local shop change out the brake, and went back to the range right after. I had to rezero, and the sound was much less. Just a tad bit more recoil. So, the brake did its thing. But anyone shooting next to you will hate you if you leave it on.

Too true about the breaks. I shoot Levang Linears on most of my 556's. You still get reduced muzzle flip but most of the sound is forward. Much kinder to your neighboring shooters.

I'm into the 308's bigtime. AR10, rem 700 and a FAL. Love the cartridge, especially as a hog hunting round for longer range shots. I reload so ammo cost isn't such a big deal. I'm looking at a lighter repeater platform. Fast followup shots on hogs so I can thin out the packs easier...

Here's the current family photo. From the top left 556, 556, 308, 6.8, 22lr and 300 blk pistol. I've got a 458 in the parts stages and sold off my last 6.5 last winter...

I wasn't feeling the sig brace on my 9mm build so I decided to take it off. Wrapped the tube with para cord instead. I like it better. The brace was just too awkward for me and added too much weight.
