With the ASAP you can move the rifle to either shoulder with ease just flip the buttstock up over the sling, and the metal loop allows the sling to move freely without binding.

Have you actually ever USED the Magpul ASAP sling mount?

1. It rattles so there goes your tactical advantage.
2. Pain in the ass to properly install.
3. It doesn't install securely to the buffer tube. The changeable tab (commercial or milspec) Magpul provides isn't large enough. The tab is too small and allows too much play to securely fasten this mount to the buffer tube.

Yes, I have one on my AR. 1. Mine doesn't noticeably rattle any more than the sound of the weapon being taken off safe. 2. Install took me less than 10 min, and was easy to install after watching a YouTube video. 3. Mine installed securely to the buffer tube. The commercial tab was a snug fit, and the mount has very little play for me....

Or maybe we can just chalk this up to user preference?

Fair enough. I PREFER to use a more secure piece of equipment that doesn't rattle and doesn't interfere with my collapsible stock.
