As much as I would have liked to build, I bought a complete rifle and added stuff. Next time I might build a 2nd AR in .308.

Mine is a Lewis Machine & Tool CQB MRP 16" 5.56. It's a black gun, It just looks almost lightly camo'd in the pic 'cos I played around with the editing....I actually shot 3 images a stop apart and combined them into an HDR image and went from there. I realize the 'scope is way too much glass for the 5.56/223 system, but it was on sale for cheap, it got more than decent reviews, holds zero perfectly so far and works very well in general. Put it this way...I don't care, I am having a lot of fun with it and that's all that matters.

The additions/mod's so far are.........

Geiselle SSA combat trigger
Tango Down Stubby foregrip
Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20X50 riflescope
Burris P.E.P.R 'scope mount
Magpul ASAP sling mount and Magpul MS2 sling
Blackhawk Bipod
Vortex SPARC red dot sight
Magpul Extended Trigger Guard (which I have not fit yet)

Later as I can afford it I will buy better optics. But really, bottom line the Simmons and Vortex have worked very, very well for me for the money. A shooting buddy I go out a lot with has the much more expensive Aimpoint PRO red dot and with general use he has no obvious or evident advantage over me. Of course I am not going to submerge my Vortex to 150' underwater and I realize the Aimpoints are top shelf. I just cannot afford one. I like Vortex as a company though. I dropped my SPARC and dented the eyepiece quite badly. It held zero dead nuts in subsequent shoots and later Vortex replaced the entire sight free of charge even though it was my fault.

jgand72 I really like your image.

This is what I went with.

All Daniel Defense Cold Hammer Forged AR-15 Barrels are constructed of Mil-Spec 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium steel that is hydraulically shaped by carbide steel hammers around a precision machined mandrel to form the chamber, lands, and grooves. The hammer forging process creates a defect-free bore with the most consistent chamber possible, and each of Daniel Defense's barrels undergoes a Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) test to insure this standard of perfection is achieved. Barrels feature a chrome lined chamber and bore, providing easy clean-up, reduced wear and corrosion resistance. The barrel extension incorporates M4 feed ramps for increased reliability. Chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO for full compatibility with both commercial and surplus mil-spec ammunition. Comes with pre-installed barrel extension and locator pin.

Technical Information:
Length: 16"
Material: 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium, Cold Hammer Forged
Contour: Government
Chamber: 5.56x45mm NATO
Twist Rate: 1 in 7"
Chrome Lined: Yes
Finish: Mil-Spec Heavy Phosphate
M4 Feed Ramps: Yes
Muzzle Thread Pattern: 1/2"-28
Gas Port Location: Mid
Exterior Diameter at Gas Port: 0.750"

Only have done 1 test shot. I had surgery on my left arm and I am a left handed shooter so I will have to wait to do more shooting.

And I did not build this for long range. I have a savage 308 for that.

Thanks. I can't wait to hit the range again. I may try some bench shooting in a rest with my neighbor. He knows he will have to do all the loading and set up. If I do I will give right hand rifle shooting a go.

That sucks brother, I would go nuts having a finished project and couldn't test it. I would need medication.
