I own Colt, I have never had a quality issue with my 6920 (I paid under a $1,000 NIB)

For a first time build I would consider Palmetto State. Good things being said about a gun you can build for $600. Recently you could buy a PSA with a Aimpoint for $900

BCM
Colt
Daniel Defense
LMT
all are top line stuff. Once you build one, you cant stop

Here is a start for parts info

I guess while I'm thinking about it, what should I do for an upper? should I get a complete one, buy one and change the bolt carrier, or buy seperate parts? and how do i know the upper will fit the BCM lower?

If you get a quality in spec upper you shouldn't have a problem.

I'd go ahead and get the BCM upper.

I can change the barrel if I get a complete upper from here correct? I'd like to get a match grade barrel with a threaded tip for a suppressor.

Also any recomendations for a good bolt carrier?

Call and ask. I believe they do custom work.

What is a good match grade .223 16" barrel I should get? do you have to buy the front sight that goes on the barrel or do some come with?

When you say "match grade", what exactly do you mean? Do you want a 16" bull, govt. profile, heavy? What is the rifle gonna be used for? What length gas system do you want?
