it's a little easier for me as my wife works nights so I can hide them in the car till she goes to work and kids go to bed then bring them.

+1 on the stripped lower from Spikes. I got the SL15 for $89.95 thanks to a tip from Gatekeeper

++1 on Bill Springfield for trigger work. He did my PTR91. Awesome!

Gonna build this one with a wylde barrel complete upper from RRA.

Picked up a DMPS LPK from Bravo co a while back. It was the least expensive and in stock when I was looking. Once the upper arrives, she's a pin together .........markerdown

" hide them in the car till she goes to work and kids go to bed then bring them" ha ha ha... I resemble that remark :-)

If I want a 243 can it be a 15 or does it have to be a 10?

I can always do a 6x45 (6-223) It wouldn't be a long range hogger but I am sure it would make a mess of one out to 250 yards.

243win is a 308Win parent case. Need an ar-10.
On an AR-15 you could do a 6.5 Grendel (.264), 6.8spc (.277) or maybe 6mm AR Home Page(.243)

Like Gate said, it will have to be on a 10 lower and upper. have you considered the 6.8 spc or 6.5 Grendel? the Grendel will have more punch and distance. Just another option.

Oops...just saw that Gate just said that, too. Sorry...getting late.

That 6.5 Grendel sounds good but I could also use a 6ppc as the 6.5g is basicley a 6.5ppc.

Hummmmmmmm Maybe that grendel sounds like the ticket. Longer range for me to pull the amazing hog shots it would be a 6.5mm so I could also deer hunt with it. hummmmmmmmmm It is sounding promising.

Best part is, most of the parts would also be a lot cheaper than trying to do it on the AR10 platform. I was really torn between the 6.8SPC and the 6.5 Grendel. I only went with the 6.8 because it was right there in front of me, and they weren't sure when they were going to get a Grendel in. Both have their pros and cons, I'm sure I'll end up picking up a Grendel, too.

I've been eyeing the conversions like the .243 and .260 for my .308. But prices are still a bit steep for me. Specially now I thought about trying to sell a few pieces so I could pick up parts for the conversions. But every time I get ready to pick out something to sell...I start remembering all the good times I had with it, and put it back in the safe LOL...oh well, as soon as I get my feet back on the ground with a new job, I'll start buying the toys again.

Tango,

Check out this link:

J&T Kits in other Calibers

It's for J&T Distrib, same folks who put out the DoubleStar AR's. You can piece together a Kit in 6.5 Grendel or 6.8 SPC. Everything except the lower, which would be any flavor of AR15 lower you want.

Now mind you, since it says J & T, and not any brand name off the infamous M4 Chart that just got a lot of publicity here lately, you may not win styling points at the local mall-ninja range.

But price wise, it's a winner. From what I've read, they use either ER Shaw or Wilson Air Gauged barrels. So, again, not the top of the line, but no where near the bottom either.

All in all, depending on what items you choose from the menu, it looks like you could get into a whole assembly (with lower) for under $800.
