Default AR Lube (Mobil1 5W-30 Fully Synthetic)

Mobil1 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Motor Oil seems to be what I keep finding when searching the forums and other sites/videos for lubing my AR.

Question: that still a good option? I have to believe it will work great and way cheaper than some of the lubes on the market specific "designed" for guns.

Best AR lube out there , some of the classes we take they make everyone clean their weapon and relube with Mobile 1 full synthetic prior to live fire . a Qt will last you a long long time . I have one particular AR that fired over 8000 rds last summer , it was never cleaned beside the first cleaning it got when new and all it had after that was Mobil 1 for lubrication and had ZERO issues in over 8000 rds

Like Mobil1, huh?

Try some Automatic Transmission Fluid. Wait till

you wipe the soot off your BCG and upper

with a dry rag. Then just

brush on some new ATF for your next range

visit.

ATF is not a good lube. It is a hydraulic fluid. Use a lubricant. Mobil 1 is great. Use it in the car and let the dribbles collect in the lube bottle. You will never run out

Well to throw a little something different, use Mobil with a few ounces of ATF and Hoppes. The AMU uses it all the time, I have used it for years, works great and will make the high priced oil guys blistering mad.

i use synthetic oil for my guns too.

ATF fluid is flamable at relatively low temps. not a good thing to be using a gun that produces heat. had a old truck of mine catch fire because of a ATF overflow that dripped on the catalytic converter. was a chevy manufacture error that they didnt include a discharge tube.

anyway if you run a gun hot enough ATF will catch fire. synthetic oil wont. plus ATF has very little lubrication properties.

I've always wanted to turn my AR into a flamethrower, but thanks for the warning about ATF.

Mobil 1 works great.

High temperature bearing grease works great (my favorite).

XF-7 works great.

I'm thinking about running bacon grease on my next range trip.
