Ar for hunting

I'm wanting to get back into hunting and not sure if my .223 ar will have the knockdown power. I know bullet placement is a big factor, but I am wanting another ar. Plan on hunting deer. What should I go with. I was thinking an ar in .308. Thanks for ur input.

308 is a great deer round, regardless of how its delivered.

Some AR 15 choices to consider: 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel, .300 Blackout, .458 SoCom.

The 6.8 probably has the most ammo choices "on the shelf", my LGS stocks Silver State 6.8 in soft points. Hornady loads an SST in the 6.8. SST is a great bullet for deer.

Now the problem is too darn many choices in the AR 15.
