Sure. It's one of the key features to have an AR chambered in .223 You can change out a few key parts and cheap plinking to get familiar with the weapon.

You just have to shop around. But, they all run about $200 - so you have to plan on shooting a lot of .22lr to make up the cost difference.

HOWEVER - in a Space Zombie situation, it's a great tool to have for small game hunting and save the big rounds for the brain drainers.
