A quad rail isn't necessary, a quality light is.

^^^this. And as you get more and more familiar with the rifle, you'll be better informed on what you might need vs want.

A decent optic, if you bench shoot a bi-pod, I personally like the vertical grip (some don't), a good light and if you are nuts like me a laser.

I like the simple method. I put a quad rail on, because I hated the m4 Guards.

A sling, 5 round mags for hunting season, and a cleaning kit...

Sling, mags, ammo, good light, spare batteries for light.

Take the top one. I have a stock that holds six spare CR123A batteries for my light, the grip can hold spare parts, A sling that quick releases, good light, and an optic I can rely on.

I am a huge fan of the Magpul handguards, they are lighterand more ergonomic than any quadrail and can still have accessories attached via small pieces of polymer rail also made buy Magpul

Some accessories fit right into the handguard.
