Default AR-15 With Slide Fire Stock

Hello All!

I'm kind of new to guns, and recently decided to get my first shotgun. While shopping, I decided I should pick up a cool rifle. I think I'm going to get the Mossberg Tactical Semi-Automatic 22 Long Rifle.

My question is: I plan to buy one of those slide fire stocks that makes it like an automatic weapon. Will it work with the Mossberg rifle?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure the .22 LR would generate enough recoil to make the Slide Fire stock work.

I think you're going to have issues trying to run a slide fire stock on a .22 lr.

Okay, thanks. What does the "LR" mean? Long range? On the slide fire website, it shows the same basic gun working with the slide fire. Maybe there's something I'm missing. The website does say "Only compatible on AR-15s with Carbine Style Buffer Assemblies". I'm not sure exactly what that means.

.22 LR means .22 Long Rifle, which is the most common .22 rimfire round. There is also .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 Magnum, and some others in there from way back when and rimfire .22s were used in bars and stores as "gallery guns" (definitely different times).

The 22lr gun you're looking at is a whole lot different than a standard AR15. I'm pretty sure those 22lr tacticool looking things don't even have a buffer assembly.

Nope. No buffer in there.

Well shucks, I was hoping it would work. I'll have to look up what the buffer assembly is.

It really looked like it would work. I'm glad I asked here instead of just buying it!

So what is the least expensive AR-15 that I can buy that will have a buffer assembly and work with the slide fire?

I just did a little research on the Mossberg rifle and it looks like it might actually have the buffer tube, etc.

See this review. If you go to the page and hit "ctrl+F", you can type in the word "buffer" and it's mentioned four times in the review.

You are looking for an AR at a time when the market has the highest prices in history. I suggest you wait a while, otherwise you'll be paying a couple thousand for something that sold for 800 a month ago.
