In most cases a thick rubber band wrapped around the trigger to the mag does the same thing.
I was just thinking that you could wedge the position lever on the carbine open, then put a small section of buffer spring at the bottom before putting it back on and you will have the same if not better effect.
You had better watch out the BATF may say.

thick rubber band + AR = machine gun
It just depends on how they want to add it up.

So far, they haven't tried to mess with the guys doing the low tech approach to bumpfiring. As long as you don't do any major dissasembly, like take the pistol grip off or the INTERNAL trigger group modifications, ATF has been ok with bumpfiring. Tac trigger, hellfire, GAT trigger, are left alone (except in Cali). Atkins accellerator didn't require any skill to operate, which is why they went after him. I used a rubber band (when I had money to buy the ammo), and had some reasonable success. I actually started to narrow my shot group a little (got a 20rd shot group about 8") when the ammo prices started going sky high.
The only reason I brought this subject up to begin with is that I feel as though this inventor is going down the path Mr Atkins did, and I hope he doesn't tangle with the ATF like Atkins.
