IMO, as long as you stay with one of the major players in the AR platform, you should be okay. i looked at many before i bought my Bushmaster M4A2 carbine, i only went with it because it had the features i wanted and the price was right, $800+tax, for a very lightly used AR! i looked at Del-Ton, Stag Arms, DPMS, Colt, RRA, and many more. i have shot about 750 rounds through it with no problems so far. i clean and lube mine after every shooting session and do so with all my firearms. i think that you just have to do some looking around, and you will find a good one for a good price. key is to have money in hand when a good deal presents itself.

I agree with with most of what you say here ax and I'm glad you found something you're happy with. But if you want an AR that likely will stand up to harsh conditions over the long haul then of the ones you listed, Colt stands out. BCM and DD also fit in that elite group and I understand that Spikes and Stag appear to have worthy models that are listed in the new "M4 Chart".

ETA:
If you do a careful, patient build, picking your sales over time, you can come in around $900 with an AR that rivals BCM, Colt and DD. I know because I've done it with a Daniel Defense build. Of course like any AR you can expect upgrades later on the basic rifle, and I certainly did that too.
