Do you have an AR? If not, have you ever broken one down, even for cleaning, and if so, how far did you take it? These are questions you need to ask yourself, and then you will start answering your own question. Your own skill level with maintenance should be your guide. My suggestion is to invest in one of the DVD's available from one of the manufacturers of AR's that go into the assembly/dissasembly of the AR. Bushmaster comes to mind off the top of my head, there are others as well. Good luck with your endeavor.
