Default Which AR-15

AR-15's..........What brand do you like the most?

I know this has been asked but I thought it would be nice to have a poll for easy comparison.

I'm just getting into ARs and have only had the Stag and the S&W M&P A2s. The S&W had better flip up rear sights, but that wasn't worth an extra $100, IMO.

I'm a Bushmaster fan.

Most if not all of the rifles listed above are excellent rifles. I think the quality of the Olympics has improved substantially over the last few years. All the other rifles already have a pretty good reputation.

AR Build: A friend of mine just built an AR with a stripped Double Star lower and who knows what brands of parts for the upper stuff. The fit between the upper/lower is not as nice and tight as his Bushmaster but it shoots great. The rifle has been 100% reliable and groups well, even with junk ammunition. I think he said it cost him about $480-500 to build.

I bought a Stag complete flat-top upper (chrome, 1:9) from one source, a Stag lower from a second, and a stock from a third. Everything went together perfectly, it has worked great, and it cost well under $700 to put together.

There are only three brands of AR I will buy as of now.

Colt
Stag
Bushmaster

I voted for Colt if you can afford/find it. Stag and Bushmaster come in second and third.

Default Dpms Lr-308b (ar-10)

I bought my first AR a few months ago, being a big bore kind of guy, it just had to be an AR-10.
I haven't had the chance to shoot it a lot, but the ammo is purchased,
(Black Hills .308 Win Match), and plan to get busy with it this summer.

The is a DPMS LR-308B, flat top, 18 in. bull barrell, with 3X to 9x Bushnell Scope. First time to the range I had only one box of ammo on hand. At 50 yards, using a freshly mounted, unsighted scope, the first round was about 5 inches high and 1 inch to the right. Clicked it down a few, and the second round was 1 inch to the right, and about 2.5 inches high. Moved out to 1 hundred yards, and tweaked it to 1 inch high, and centered.

I was shooting from a bench, with no other support, so I couldn't do much more. Next trip, I'll be using a Lead Sled, and shooting at two hundred. If I can get acceptable groups there, I'll follow up with a trip to the 6 hundred yard range, (soon to open in Oscoda).

I guess I'm pretty happy with the DPMS.

I have 3 Bushmasters, with plans to buy 3 more after the first of the year. Bushmaster makes a good, quality, accurate weapon. They are readily avaliable, and priced well. Bill T.

Default Bushmaster .450

I like bushmaster as well. They work flawlessly up here, no matter what the season. I am interested in the new bushmaster .450

Anybody have any input on it?

Default My AR.....

I have a Stag Model 5, 6.8mm SPC, M4 configuration. It has a chrome lined 1/10 16" barrell. Shoots extremely well. I have only A2 combat sights and at 50 yds get 2" MOA with no bench rest. I really like the 6.8 in the carbine. If you have not yet, take the time and check out the ballistics on the 6.8.
