Or there is the LaRue that uses Armalite type uppers, but DPMS and original Armalite and MagPul mags. RRA makes a version, closed to the DPMS type, but it uses FNFAL mags.

So, things on a .308 AR are not as widely compatible. Also they tend to be pricier than AR15 parts by a pretty significant margin. So do your research on parts comparability with whatever your chosen pattern is before you order the parts.

What is it you like about the price of .7.62x51? Or where are you finding good prices on it. Most I've seen has been around $20 per 20 rounds.

This site is pretty cool. Prices change all the time.

Thanks for the info I will do a lot more research.

I wouldnt mind paying a little more than above for better stuff. This wouldnt be a rifle I would take to the range every weekend obviously. Just something cool to have. I had even thought about a .50 cal in some platform.

I just want a larger caliber rifle.

I've been waiting over a year and a half for my Armalite parts. If you wanna build your rifle anytime in the near future I'd shy away from them.

There are a lot of 308 AR's for sale on various gun boards a very reasonable prices especially DPMS ones. THey usually have triggers that could use some work but generally accurate rifles at very low pieces. I doubt one could be built for the asking prices I have seen. You just have to look around.
