And another build?

Bought a RRA lower $109, RRA two stage trigger and parts kit $149, cheap carbine stock and buffer $20 (local classified ads).
Assembly was a piece-o- cake, until the buffer retainer spring and pin took flight! :o
After 20 minutes of swearing and searching on hands and knees, I found both, and now all is good.
Won't be able to afford an upper for a couple of more weeks.
But am leaving town for work, so it will give me time for research, and of course FTF reccomendations! :D

Here is the stock.

Looking good!! can't wiat to see the finished product and a range report.

What are your plans for it ? home defends ? plinking ? Do you have any thoughts on an upper yet?

Gordo323 05-18-2011 12:38 AM

Just always wanted to build one and learn a little more about the insides.
Probably use for plinking and prairie dog defense.
Am looking at Covenant Arms uppers, they are local.

Looking good so far!

Don't know much about that upper but would suggest widening the field. Nice that you have the time for research, I'd take advantage of it. Usually the local guys cut a lot of corners; bet you can do better with a known builder and for not much more money. It pays to squeeze a little more quality in the upper. BCM, DD, LMT come to mind...

Impressive. I can't wait to see it when it's done.

Nice Gordo!
Its coming along nicely.
FWIW, I just saw this.

Aero Precision AR15 Assembled Flat Top Upper Receiver Kit- BCG - Surplus Ammo

I already have an upper from them, It works great, However, Mine cost almost $90.00 without the BCG and charging handle.

Hey, thanks to all for advice and encouragement!
But patience was never one my virtues, so I robbed my piggy bank this morning, headed to Impact, and walked out with a Daniel Defense DDXV complete upper.
They had a Bushmaster and a RRA for quite a bit less, but I liked the feel of the DD and the quality looks impressive!
Cleaned, inspected, and assembled to the lower. Everything function checked good, cycles snap caps with no problems.
Now I just need it to stop raining!

Excellent choice, Gordo! You won't be sorry going with Daniel Defense. I got their LW midlength 16" upper earlier this year and it's worked out great.

I have to be careful when I go to Impact Guns, too! :D

Nice to see pictures of your completed AR. Here's pictures of my DD...
