Well, I just read the specific one for Washington State and it's a pretty big undertaking for a state that has a huge problem financially already.

The Department of Licensing?? Seriously? You want those clowns taking care of the record keeping? While I see the dual purpose between having to renew your license and "keeping track of us" - the Dept. of Licensing?? Really? That is the best you could come up with?

Honestly, I think this is too broad stroke, but it's an aggressive attempt, which may signal things might escalate sooner than we thought.

Looks like I will be sending out a couple of e-mails today....

We heard about it in Arizona.

Then we inundated our Representatives and Senators with emails, faxes, and letters about it. Even the sponsors decided to step away from it.

Then March happened...

Do they have the money to enforce it? Also, isn't Remington owned by Cerberus Capital, who happens to be based in NY? I would think they would spend some cash to fight it since it will hurt their bottom line...

We're about $5.2 billion dollars in the red over the next two years, but something like that never stopped a New York politician from increasing spending. To his credit, Governor Patterson is trying to legitimately curb spending or at least reduce the rate of growth to come closer to balancing a budget. But I could see them trying to push this through.

I heard about it a couple of weeks ago and sent an e-mail to our local rep. Our local rep. is pro-gun and is my former government teacher from high school. He's actually a pretty cool and honest guy.
