A softer pistol grip like a Hogue, (see my gun) or similar manufactures will help reduce the felt recoil. I like the STR magpul stocks best, but even their rubber buttpads aren't even close to something like a limbsaver pad for a regular rifle.
As far as Fab Defense/mako, etc, They really do make some great stuff (I speak from 2 years experience) but to actually buy it, they are kinda pricey.

Whats a good butt stock to use to reduce recoil? I like the looks if the mako group stuff. What do u guys recommend? Would like to change butt, pistol, and vertical grip
Was your stepfathers AR a longer barrel? Mid length or Full? If yours is a Carbine 14 to 16 inch barrel, the recoil is noticeably different than a longer heavier barrel. You can also improve the recoil by getting a good quality aftermarket spring and buffer.
Some of the guys here may be able to steer you into what is a good one.

Hey guys what is a good company to get a new butt stock, pistol grip, and vertical grip that has quick release light/laser?

Lots of companies make them, some cheap, some expensive. The mako Group makes great stuff, but is expensive. You should check something like google in images, find the one ya like the looks and function of, then read the pros and cons from Amazon, and gun forums to see if that one in particular has issues, etc.

Shot another 55 rounds yesterday. Tried some 223 and 556 ammo. Some brass some steel. No prolems. Looking to buy some magpul stuff. Cant decide on foliage or OD green.

Looking at the magpul acs buttstock and moe+ grip. Not sure I like the vertical grip on the end. Do they make an angled grip?

Tank;
Suggestion. Relax.
Recoil from an A/R?
Wait a year and then consider changing anything. You won't need to (although the MOE grip is a little nicer for men with above average sized hands).

And, PLEASE carefully clean the chamber and lockup area as well as the bolt and BCG. There is no reason it shouldn't have been going fully into battery unless something was a little dirty, like dried out CLP that's been wearing off as you shoot it to be more reliable. Clean softly but well and lubricate interacting surfaces with a little teflon lubricant.

Tank: welcome to the forum! Glad to have you

It's good to hear you are using the rifle and learning its ins and outs.

Why not post a pic for us?
That way we can see its configuration and be better equipped to offer advice

One of my shooting friends has an adjustable 5 position vertical grip he likes better than the others he has tried. Sells for about 16 dollars.
like this:

Magpul makes an angled grip that doesn't look like a 'grip'

Here is the only pic I have as of now. I also have a nice ncstar scope and a red dot sight.

Yea I really dont need to change much but hard not to accessorize such a kick ass gun when there is so many options to choose from.
