Default .50 cal

I was at Acrapamy a couple days back and pulled down a box of .50 cal ammo. A grin crossed my face as I thought of how much fun that I could have with a rifle of this caliber. Can you do a .50 cal build?

You could buy a .50 BMG upper, I know they make them. Then just get a lower for it. One .50 cal hand fed round at a time through a bolt action upper would be fun. Or you could build one in .50 beowolf. Mag fed, semi auto, big chunk of lead.... Who could ask for anything more?

Lol I would only be good for about 5 shots. I can only take about 15 shots with my 30-06 before I'm done. I couldn't imagine a 50 cal

You can build one on an AR-15 platform. It might be less expensive and easier to purchase a Serbu BFG or LAR Grizzly.

Friend of mine has a 50bmg from bushmaster. I've fired it a couple times. Recoil was on par with .243 deer rifle.

Its mostly all bark as long as your behind the gun.

Found this while researching the .50BMG

"Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) has contracted with Lockheed Martin to develop the EXACTO program, including .50-caliber bullets complete with microprocessors and steering vanes that allow the bullet to adjust its trajectory mid-flight to stay on target when the flight path has been altered by uncontrollable variables, as well as weapons that fire these rounds and monitor their flight. The weapon system is expected to be available in 2015."

I want one

it's not that bad, the muzzle brake vents the gas pretty well!

My Marlin lever gun in 45/70 is a lot worse...

God forbid you stand in the area of the muzzle blast while someone is

shooting

This is my Ar-50 .

More or less an upper on an AR lower, except Armilite does it at the factory.....

3/8 steel on the range!

Hey Vox, can I borrow your 50? I only need it for the Weekend. My Chainsaw chain is dull and I need to drop 2 Oak Trees for some firewood.

That is one business end I wouldn't want to be on---even if 3 miles away.

$3.50 a shot takes the fun out of it pretty quick.
