Default 5.56 or 7.62x39

I'm getting ready to build my first AR but due to the cost of ammo I was thinking about going with the Russian cartridge. Can I get someone opinion. Thank you.

Stay away from the 7.62X39. It doesn't feed reliably in the AR platform.

If you plan on shooting steel cased ammo they will be within pennies per round. 5.56 , more accurate, better distance and readily available here in the US on every shelf

if ammo cost is foremost then check out the 5.45x39 readily available at lower cost than 7.62

When comparing apples to apples, steel to steel, and brass to brass they run the same in price. In fact the non corrosive brass 7.62x39 ammunition I've seen costs more than its 5.56 counterpart.

U still can get the .223 by using Wolf or Tulammo brands. They are russian made and steel cases. Some users are happy with both brands. But my DD jams with Tula.

I lube my guns with Mobil 1 5-30 Synthetic oil just like i put in my cars. Any buffer tube will work just fine.
