The Son's of Gun's show is put on for a different crowd. The target audiance is city slickers and armchair warriors. The show they did with the 458 didnt give much credit to Marty and now they have reinvented the wheel. All the drama over a weapon that has been in production since the 60's and they put a piston system in it. Wow
Its a good thing that General showed up to see this NEW weapons platform. I bet we will hear them call it an "assualt rifle" instead of an AR. Its good tv but thats it.
Are pogs big lol just messin

Just a question or comment -this is not a "long" range firearm and I was curious about your stock selection. Would you change that up to reduce some of the weight?

True the 458 SOCOM is not a "long range" gun. But I like to be able to do some slight adjustments to the cheek weld. Standard AR stocks just don’t work well for me most times.
As for weight I have no problem with this guns weight or most any other guns weight. I build them to do what I want and deal with the weight. The 458 SOCOM kicks about like a 12GA and the extra weight seems to help on the 2nd shot.
But bottom line I like this stock along with a few others over the other standard AR stocks.

No worries, i was just curious is all. I like adjustable stocks, but have steered clear of the PRS as I'm not using anything really past 200 (I bench rest shoot for load development and then hunt with my rounds) My 5.56's are strictly for plinking or the possibility of a "What if...?"

Great build! Another .458 owner.
Vince drama aside, I like that Sons of Guns built a .458 SOCOM. I'm hoping that
it gains more traction in the AR world. Maybe there will become more barrel manufactures
other than 2 and more ammo manufactures other than just 2 and just maybe
ammo will drop in price a tad.

If you got it, flaunt it:

Jeff, Your rifle looks great.
A FEW QUESTIONS:
- U keeping the Iron sights or plan on putting an optic?
- In your first pic, you had a standard looking trigger, 2nd pic has a very cool straight trigger. what's up?
- MOST IMPRTANTLY: U use P-Pags with your .458? Any feed issues? My 30-round P-Mags jam the ammo, they are great for .223 but not so good for the single-stack.

Glove thanks!

A FEW QUESTIONS:

I swap out from time to time based on what I am shooting ( range wise)
- In your first pic, you had a standard looking trigger, 2nd pic has a very cool straight trigger. what's up?
First image had a stock RRA 2 stage I then bought a Geissele SD3 Super Dynamic 3 Gun
- MOST IMPRTANTLY: U use P-Pags with your .458? Any feed issues? My 30-round P-Mags jam the ammo, they are great for .223 but not so good for the single-stack.
The older Pmags work just fine if you use smaller than 500GR ammo. But No I dont often use them it was just a handy mag when I took my picture. Most times I use HK AR15 Mags or just a old GI mag
