What bullet type/grain would suit my remington r-15 vtr ss varmint. i load my own 270sm's and it shoot 1/4 inch groups at 100yds. But seeing how the vtr that i have is semi auto, i would like to know some tips on finding even distributed bullet weight, but still maintaining my speed. now i'm not wanting to shoot 1000yds, i only want to get about 500yds.The gun will be used for varmints, and coyotes.

Barrel length & twist are important to know when building a new load for a rifle. I use 55 gr V-Max along with Reloader 15, BL-C(2) or Varget works good for varmints in my AR15 with a 1-7 twist 20" barrel.

I have a 24" stainless bull barrel on my AR, 1:8 twist, and it won't group decent with anything under a 69gr. bullet. But then again, I require my gun to group five rounds within a 1/2 inch dot with regularity.
