.223/5.56 to .22LR Convertion.

On cheaperthandirt.com I came across this convertion kit. I was wondering if anyone has done this? And; If so, how did it work out?

Please dont post the same topic on multiple sub forums.

I use a cmmg conversion and it works very well but does not work with piston systems. Mags are hard to load and you get lots of vaporized lead blown back. So wash reaaaaaallllly well and i wouldnt let a child use the kit due to lead issues

Good post JonM. not a lot of people think about the byproducts of shooting.

I always shower after returning from the range and wash all cloths worn to the range separately.

I have one and it works great . I got mine in stainless with 4 mags for $189.96 shipped to my door . My only complaint was how dirty is leaves the gun even after firing 200 or less rounds , its much dirtier than shooting 500 rds of cheap steel .223 ammo,. My kids really like shooting it and I like it because its cheap to let them shoot . Kids happy , dad happy

my friend has a dedicated . 22 upper. it works great so far. and easy to change between calibers... no exprience with the kits though

Thanks. Its generally not a problem with most 22lr as the vaporized lead goes out the muzzle but the direct gas system causes that lead to come right back.

Its one of the reasons i bought the m&p 15-22, other than the pink tiger stripes... the kits work great i just dont like eating that much lead

One other drawback is the fast twist rate of ar15 barrels cause extreme innaccuracy after 25 yards. Go about one step past 25 and its just aweful.
