Default .22 lower adaptability?

Hello folks, I have an MP 15-22, and just recently learned through a random youtube run that all AR15 platforms can have swapped uppers. Since I'm not extremely knowledgeable about the platform, would the .22 lower be able to handle a .223 or 5.7 upper without damage?

Couple of issues.

There is no buffer tube extension for the bcg of the ar15 upper to cycle into.

The magwell is very different.
