Default 18 month PMag test concluded

For those who are still wondering about modern magazine springs:

Today I took to the range 4 Gen 2 PMags magazines I had fully loaded w/ 30 rds for 18 months... one and a half years..

No detectable sign of spring memory/weakness.
Last round loaded as well as first round on all 4 magazines.

Thats good to know. My AK mags have been loaded for 15 years. I wonder if they'll still feed. Hmmm. May try em out tomorrow.

It's always been my understanding that kerping a mag loaded will not harm your springs. The "harm" comes from actually using them. Loading and unloading will eventually wear out the springs whereas constant pressure or no pressure at all, will not. At least that's what I've been told.

Thats modern spring steel only, 60's 70's springs would fatigue.

Hummn? Who ever told you that 30 year old Mags. were weak. There are many 1911 one hundred year old Mags working OK. I have Lugers P08s and C-96 Mauser Brooms that the springs are working after 100 years. There are Spencer Carbines from the Civil War still working fine as are many Henry rifles.
