Default 1-4x scope recommendations

Just looking for a 1-4x scope that is relatively small in size if at all possible, only looking to spend $200 any input would be greatly appreciated

I have a Bushnell trophy XL 1-4x24. 30 mm tube, 4A reticle with an illuminated 1 moa red dot. Not exactly compact but it sits on my AR very nicely in a forward offset mount designed for the AR.

I just put on Layaway(Walmart) a Bushnell AR223 1-4x24 BDC for $189. The Throwdown Lever/Illuminated Model is $299.

I have also heard good reviews on the Primary Arms 1-4x24. Don't know price.

If you would consider a fixed low power scope you could go even smaller. The 3x Sig Sauer is a good value. Excellent reticle for fast acquisition but not too thick. Comes with an integral mount. About 160.

We have a few bushnell shotgun scopes in that range, one more than 25 years old ( on a 308 ultralight) good scope for about a hundred bucks.
