howdy! im new here, but lets skip all that eh? i have a yugo sks with the ever popular grenade launcher attachment. i dont mind it, i think it looks pretty cool. but as of now it is serving no purpose. i was thinking about drilling holes all around it and making it like a big ass muzzle brake. do yall think it would work?

I have a Yugo also, and the grenade mount is held on with a drift pin. You can remove it and replace it with a standard SKS muzzlebrake. Of course in NY I can't have a muzzle brake, so I can't do that! I think drilling through that steel would be much harder than you think...

Be warned friskydingo, I you buy one of those nato grenade adapters, do not launch it with the rifle shouldered. I made this mistake when I fired my first grenade. I got my Nato grenade from a gun show at the Knob Creek Range in West Point, Kentucky.

You are supposed toplace the butt of the rifle on the ground or against the meaty portion of your thigh...you could probably shoulder it when shooting a golf or tennis ball however.

You should try to mod yours, or put it in the closet and buy a commercial-made brake that doesn't look so massively huge.

I like mine, already has the holes around the end of the grenade launcher already and old one 1970 unissued, I need to pick up one of the practice grenades and some blanks. If you just happen to get a hold to some of those actual grenade launch blanks don't put the butt of the rifle agents any part of your body or something will be broken. just in case you want to change out the launcher here area few replacement brakes you might like, there threaded to fit the YUGO http://brakes.ricksmuzzlebrakesandgunstuff.com/
