Speaking of which, I'd rather an AR10 myself.

I love the setup though. I'd give it five stars. Nice led/laser. No self defense long gun is complete without some type of flashlight. IMP even a shotgun needs a light if its for self defense.
Wait.... a guy was shooting at you with an AK and it jammed. Instead of shooting him you just beat his ass?? Ummmm. Why exactly is that???

Because we had enough officers on scene and to handle the situation without using lethal force. He was looking down at the rifle and trying to cycle it and obviously failing. So the closest guy to him took a flying leap and nailed him in the chest football style. The gun went flying and so did he. Nobody had to die that day. We were very happy at how it ended. If he had cleared the jam he was a dead man. It was a split second decision made by a very brave man and obviously was the right call even in hindsight.

But this is off topic. The point is in a SHTF situation an AK jammed so bad that the person using it couldn't recover in time to stop someone from leaving cover on foot and taking him down with their bare hands. Not to say an AR has never had a similar malfunction, but obviously the AK isn't the God-like weapon that some people are trying to claim here.

What did somebody forget to engage their safety and shoot the dogs front teeth out? Or are we blaming that on the Glock shooters?

Personally I'm not an AK guy. I wouldn't say no to a Galil though, but it wouldn't be my personal choice. I am of the ilk to K.I.S.S., keeping it as simple as possible and keeping it as utilitarian as possible as well. Optics, lasers, lights, are premised on need, for me. Also, man how that $700 AK got expensive fast! If you love the platform, go for it, and build it up as you go along. Buy ammo, shoot, rinse and repeat.

You figured no ammo in on your budget . That should have been number 2 on your list . I plan on keeping my WASR plain jane . Its a SHTF rifle and I dont want anything on it to make it any heavier or unreliable .

Yanno, configure the rifle, without all the hooplah,

pull the spare parts out of the picture.

They are a distraction.

Let's see what it looks like...

Distraction from what?
Im asking opinions on the add ons im thinking to buy for that rifle.
So i guess i could take the rifle and mags out of the pic. Because those are the only things i dont really need any input on.

Purely my opinion, the stock and the pistol grip serve a purpose. They make the rifle more ergonomic. The rail and the light I'd do without. I'd also skip the optic, it's wise to become proficient with irons before adding optics.

FWIW I wouldn't pay $700 for a WASR either, it wasn't so long ago they were $379. For a bit more you can get a high quality Arsenal.

And yes, the AR vs AK thing is a myth. ARs are much more reliable and AKs are much more accurate than either are given credit for.

UGH.

If your opinion is "skip this..."

Pretty sure the OP doesn't care WHAT you have to say. So why bother posting anything?

If your opinion is "buy this light/grip/optic instead because its better...."

OR "don't buy this model because it gave me this problem but THIS model is better...."

That information might actually be useful to the OP.

This is just a guess mind you, but I think it's an accurate one.

The man asked for input, if he didn't want opinions he wouldn't have asked.
