The more tacti-crap you put on it, the more specialized it

becomes. I like my WASR because it's light, fast, and

simple. (Compensates partially for me being heavy, slow,

and complicated...) What's a good purpose for a high

cap mag? Less overall mags to carry! 2-30 rounders is

60 rounds, that'll do. A holo sight and a lazer? Really?

Wouldn't a wide black nylon baggage strap, with plastic hardware,

so your wood furniture doesn't get scratched, be more sensible

than a tac sling? Do you really want that rifle flopping about?

you left out http://www.midwayusa.com/product/685437/krebs-custom-guns-hammer-and-trigger-pin-retainer-plate-ak-47

that is a must upgrade for a wasr 10/63

extended pins are a nice addition but not always neccessary

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/444289/power-custom-extended-length-pin-ak-47-trigger-hammer-steel-matte

as for mags i use us palm mags very solid

no ak would be complete without a drum. i prefer the chinese drums to the ruskie ones. much more reliable and easier to load.

you also forgot ammo!!

I love it when a thread solicits my opinion. I usually provide an opinion when unsolicited, but it's nice to be asked.

My opinion. ( HOLY SHIP those AK's got expensive. .) Too much crap on it.
Unless it's a show piece, you know, like a full dress Harley with handle bar tassels and chrome tires..

I think an AK works pretty good as is.
Get the AK12 and start with that sucker!

When you've got optic on the gas tube you've to zero it after cleaning so as I need it with kbs wz. 96 BERYL rail added to my AKMSN.

You can always make some other modifications as I do:

more pics here.

Short grip is a good choice - with long grips especially mounted near to the receiver you can have samll problem with mag change.

Well. I want all the modern improvements that people put on AR/black Rifles.....
Im not getting an ak because i like its looks..... i actually like the looks of AR Rifles better. But the AK Rifles trump the AR in reliability in dirty conditions.... if i can only have one rifle.... the wasr10 is it.

2 mags may be good for you.
But i get more piece of mind from having a full combat load....

The laser and optic. Yes really. They have two different uses. Plus. For $120 the tlr4 led/laser is a good deal

Blackhawk sells a velcro thing you put on ur belt that secures the muzzle end of your weapon to your body... it stops the flop.. the wood furniture is coming off as soon as possible.

This is a total myth.

A crappy ak will jam and have issues just as much as a crappy ar15 under The same conditions.

A good ak and a good ar15 will have no issues under any conditions.

I've got a wasr 10/63 solely as a shtf gun because I was able to get a couple thousand rounds of ammo super cheap. My shtf gun is a bravo company ar15 mid length lightweight bfh model.

I dont care if its a colt, sig, fn, etc..
The wasr10 will function longer(more rounds) than the AR...
MYTH MY A%* ... LOL.... I HAVE SEEN IT FIRST HAND.
I have never had an ak malfunction. I have seen and had AR rifles jam.
I will say that i have alot more rounds thru AK rifles than AR .
In my experience.... the ak is mo better... lol...

I spend a lot of time shooting and doing it with folks from random slices of society. I've seen ak's ftf fte stove pipe or just go click run away full auto when they shouldn't etc. I've seen em jam in arid dusty climates and sever cold.

Your entitled to your opinion but reality is a harsh mistress I wish ya well.

I don't have a WASR, but one of my regular shooting buddies had one that we all passed around like a dirty dirty slut. It was always very reliable. He tried a variety of affordable mags; the promag brand seemed a bit better than the rest. Promags are available with a little window to let you get a look at what's left.

I don't think he was ever truly satisfied with any of the optics he tried, despite the nifty side mount rail setup.

Shoot the absolute snot out of it.
