Yougo m70 ab2?
I saw a Yougo m70ab2 under folder in my price range that I like. What do you guys/gals think of them. I like that it has a thicker stamped receiver.

The Yugo versions of the AK (M-76) are well regarded rifles. The thicker receivers are heavier, not necessarily better (you can start a whole series of arguements about that topic). The barrels are NOT chrome lined. They do require more attention to cleaning after shooting and in inclement weather conditions. Some say the non-lined barrels are more accurate.

I actually just ordered one on Tuesday. I could have picked up a Romanian for about $50 bucks less, but have heard that the Yugos are "better". Now how they are "better" and to the extent that they're "better" than a WASR, I can't tell you. But once I get it in and get some lead down range with it, I'll post up a range report and let you know how I like it. I know there are some other members here that have them and like them. I was asking opinions on them and got some good info in this thread, you may wanna read through it.
Hope this helps.

The WASR's are imported fully built, but made for low cap single stack mags. They are then modified in the US to take standard AK mags with 922r compliance parts added to make them legal.
The Yugos are imported as parts kits and generally built on US made receivers. Now they cannot import barrels so they are fitted with US made barrels.
Unless it is a "preban" rifle.

It's not a pre-ban. Here's the description of the one I bought:
" New Manufacture M70AB2 7.62x39 Rifles with underfolding stock. Manufactured with original refinished Yugoslavian M70 parts, New U.S. 1.6mm receiver, and New US barrel."
And here's a link to the page:

At $469 that is a decent price. I would want to know more about "who's" receiver and "who's" barrel was used in the build. New does not necessarily mean high quality. Remember, the rest of the gun is refinished surplus parts.

I've got one I bought a couple years ago. Still had the wood handguards on them at that time. Mine is built on a Dan Coonan Industries (DCI) stamped receiver (1.5 or 1.6mm thick RPK type, not the usual 1mm light AK type).
I have to wonder about AIM's current description though:

My Yugo M70ab2 is my favorite AK to date. Check out the videos of me and my brothers shooting it.
