Grease is a two-edged sword-cuts both ways.

Unlike oil, it won't be absorbed by the metal, or run off, or dry out

as quickly.

OTOH, dirt and particles will stick to grease more readily than oil.

In areas where grease is needed, general practice is to apply it

sparingly, carefully removing excess.
