Default Wasr-10/63 Canted front sight question

I have a quick question. I have a wasr and it seems the front sight is canted. However, the gas tube where the piston sits seems off too. I dont want to mess with the sights if they arent off. Ill upload a few pictures (sorry for the quality and weird angles, did the best I could with my phone)

I can't tell from those pics. Is there enough adjustment to zero the sights? And does the rifle function ok?

My WASR front sight is cranked to the left quite a bit to zero. Most people don't worry about it as long as the rifle can be zeroed, but some sights are canted too much to zero.

The rifle functions great, it isnt a huge cant even if there is one. Not that I'll be shooting past 200-300 yards anyway.

What really matters is whether it hits the point of aim. If it does, no problem. If it does not, you can adjust the windage with a hammer and punch, or use the AK front sight tool.

As long as it works reliably and shoots accurately I wouldn't worry much about it.

Thats the only issue with some wasr 10/63 is they are made from kits and the barrels are pressed into new receivers so the indexing is not always right.

Never buy a 10/63 without a thorough inspection. If yours will not adjust to poi there isnt much that can be done as the barrel was not pressed in and indexed square before the barrel pin hole was drilled in the receiver.

If the cant isn't bad, as you said, then there should be enough windage adjustment in the front sight to zero. When it's really bad you can eyeball it down the top of the barrel. When I bought my WASR many years ago I bought the best looking one a guy had on his table at a gun show. I remember one did look out of line.

I couldn't eyeball the cant on mine but when I zeroed I did have to move the sight halfway to the left. A little annoying when you're used to mechanical zero being close to actual zero, but the WASR is a cheap AK and the AK is a cheap rifle making the WASR the cheapest of the cheapest. Still it's a pretty darn good rifle!

BTW, it will take some effort to move the sight...

you will need a sight tool to move it accurately without damaging the sight base

If your front sight really is canted & it doesn't shoot where you aim, here is the repair tutorial.
