What would a realistic selling price be for a good to excellent 1971 Yugo SKS be? The one I have has no more than 3 boxes of 7.62 through it since I bought it 2 years ago. I've considered selling it to get a 9mm or .22 plinker or a shotgun for my wife to shoot (she likes the side by sides with the old school scrollwork), but I've seen a HUGE range of prices on Yugos the last few weeks and months.

in kansas city it seems the prices here been about $300.

About 300 here in Georgia also. I paid 79 and 100 for my two years ago.

I paid $350 for a litely used Chinese SKS with a decent looking replacement stock on it, at a gun show in MS, this weekend. That seemed to be the lower end of the gun show prices for non-fugly SKS's at this gun show (not huge). The place was covered with cheapish-looking WASR-10's for some reason.

If somebody wants mine for $300, I'd let it go. They are going for 350-400 here from local places, but I really want to find some other lead pusher that my wife will use (.22 or 9mm).

Prices started at $350 for some beatup guns at the gunshow a couple of weeks ago in Hattiesburg, MS. I take it you haven't seen the crazy prices going on gunbroker? I broke down & paid $350 for a semi-bubba'd Chinese SKS with a synthetic stock & a crappy scope mount that i'm replacing. At least it came with a sling.

Yeah, I've seen some of those prices, then factor in some of it is the "I GOTTA HAVE IT AT NO COST" mentality, so think a bit lower.

My SKS is 100% stock, clean, and even has the stock tool kit, oiler, and sling.

If I had it to do over again I would have bought three Mosin Nagant 91/30's instead. I have an arsenal "new" Mod.59/66 Yugo that looks exactly like Southern6r's, and it is the most inaccurate POS I own. I spent 2 days sanding and refinishing the stock. I've spent in excess of $120 on two different rear peep sights and target front post - with little improvement. I bought 700 rds. of Hot Shot ammo that sucks big time. Good for battle? Probably. But that's about it! All the surplus ammo is inaccurate crap. Reloading would probably make it a decent gun, but at this point I won't spend anymore money on that gun.
