Default sks tapco stock gas tube removal

Anyone see any reason why this thing won't come off?
Getting a bit aggravated.

More than likely the polymer stock is a little oversized,

and, as a result, very snug.

Patience, rubber mallet, plastic and wood, take your time.

First try gently tapping on the top/rear of the handguard,

with a forward motion.

Will do. Thanks for the input. Didn't want to start banging on it and find out they pin it when they install this stock or something.

Wow I'm amazed nothing ever happened to anyone using this thing. The stock fitting around the gas tube was done so poorly that the piston was out of alignment and the assembly wasn't locked in place. It was just sitting there.

So you bought it with the polymer stock.

I'd continue stripping it, and clean and wipe down the metal,

before re-installing the stock, if I were you...

You probably don't want to encounter any new

"surprises" in the field.

I went through the entire thing. All minor issues due to a hack job on the stock.

Good, now you don't have any nasty surprises

awaiting you at point of failure.

Yeah glad it wasn't anything major. Fixed alignment on the gas system, blued the bolt etc, modified the bolt for feed lip clearance, blued and color filled the rear sight and pinned the stock. Contemplating a spring loaded firing pin. Any other suggestions?
