Default SKS stock question

Am curious to learn the reason for the indent cut in the right side of the stock above the trigger on the SKS... Appears to be access to what looks like a trigger pivot pin.....or ?????

That's to allow the safety to be disengaged quickly and easily. You do know where the safety is don't you? BTW, welcome and stop by the "Introductions" section to introduce yourself!
