It looks to be the Chinese M type. You're right they are are pretty sought after. I watched one like mine wit ha Tapco stock and scope mount sell on gunbroker a month or so ago for about 1400 bucks. WAY OVER value but that was during the craze of the last craze. Last one I seen at not too insane prices went around 550.00. I honestly thought I was getting took on a 325.00 price tag a few years ago. But they are hard to get and I really wanted one.
TAPCO and a couple other companies make stocks for the M type SKS. THey have gone up a good bit too and you have to make sure to get one for a M or D type and without a bayonet cut.
Here's mine..Old pic..I really need top update but ...
Right now M types are selling between 700 and 1200 on gunbroker
. But again..Prices are as little goofy right now.
That thumb-hole stock is a newer model. They made them with a more standard looking stock in the beginning.
You can know for certain what model by looking at the serial and seeing if it has a M or a D in it. But I'd pretty much bet it's an M type by the stock. They are nice rifles, I'd hold on to it if I could.
