Default SKS serial numbers non-existent.

I picked up an SKS "paratrooper" a few months back from my brother in-law. I hadn't fired it because I never had to time to go over it too well. So I just pulled it out of the safe and started looking it over. While doing this, I noticed there is no stampings on the trigger guard, gas tube, dust cover, charging handle or carrier. The only serial number I can see is on the receiver. It is an Arsenal 26 made in 1967.

Ive tried to research a bit on why it is not stamped on the other parts. Am I overlooking something? Does anyone have input on this or a place I can find it?

IME, if it was sold by a dealer here in the US,

there is electropenciling or engraving on the

upper left hand side of the receiver.

Perhaps under that light line of rust,----

----right-----there!

Who knows? Maybe it was brought back by a

Vet during the Vietnam War?

Possibility. Also, my other SKS had said "made in China by Norinco 7.62x39"

This receiver doesn't say that, just the /26\ and serial number.

Wait.. anything brought back from a war should have had a "tag" or stamp of some sort shouldn't it?

By federal law the sks must have 10 American made parts. Depending on what parts have been changed this might be the reason.

Paratroopers came into the US that way, no need for the 10 USA made parts unless you change the stock or add hi-cap mags.

check here, wealth of knowledge on SKS's
