SKS Predicament

I'm getting a SKS for my birthday Friday and I'm torn between several. I can get a incomplete M59/66 from Century as a project rifle (which I've been wanting), a complete M59/66 from my LGS, a Norinco from the same store. Any help? Thanks

Also which ones have the chrome lined barrel? I kinda want a chrome lined cause I'm pretty sure im gonna shoot corrosive though it.

Go for the Norinco. You can thank me later.

Chromed bore, no gas valve to go bad and need replacement.

Ok but are the Norinco and the older Chinese military ones chrome lined? Cause my LGS has the Norinco for $350 or so and AIM Surplus has the Chinese military for $220,

I've never heard of the gas valve going out, how does that happen?

Norincos have chrome lined bores. Yugoslavs don't.

The gas cut off for the grenade launcher can get a bit loose sometimes and move to the cutoff position while firing and stop semi-auto cycling.

In that case should I hunt for a Russian model?

SSGN_Doc 12-05-2012 12:36 AM

Russians are nice. Not all were chrome lined. I like the Norincos because I don't feel bad shooting them.

The Norinco doesn't have a grenade launcher to worry about. I was referring to the 59/66 Yugoslavs.

i have a norinco, it'll shoot anything i put through it. my only mistake was changing it over to detachable mags. it only feeds well with the one metal mag i have for it. the plastic ones stove pipe every few rounds.

Check out http://YooperJ.com for features for various makers.

I'll bet you can still find a new-in-box Norinco with all the accessories.

I just love the little oil can and it's chinese characters.
As I understand it, the symbol for oil is a rice patty with the oil well sticking up.
